Caudal Block
Caudal blocks are generally used for surgery, including day-case surgery, on the lower tummy, groin or legs. Advantages of a caudal block include better pain relief and using much lower doses of other pain medicines that can have problematic side effects.

Indication for Blocks
- Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc
- Sciatica
- Pain in both legs
- Pain in calf muscles
- Radiculopathy
- Weakness
- Hypoaesthesia/Paraesthesia
Advantages
- Easy to perform
- Can be performed without fluoroscopy
Disadvantages
- Less amount of drug reaches pathology site
- Less effective for L4-5 pathology
